Consider how your collaboration project can do more to honour the principles of self-determination for First Nations people as well as Black and culturally and linguistically diverse groups.
Some questions to ask include:
- Does it allow people from marginalised groups to set priorities, make decisions, and develop their practice on their own terms?
- Does it expand the possibilities of self-determination beyond the project itself?
Allowing space for cultural self-determination is crucial in societies where a dominant culture has historically silenced, distorted or appropriated alternative forms of expression (and continues to do so).
