This report outlines a suggested employment and skills strategy for Australia’s First Nations Broadcasting and Media Sector. It promotes the need for skills development through regular traineeships, fellowships, exchanges, as well as a focus on getting cultural safety right.

Out of the 2006 works performed across 2019:

'3% were written by female composers
9% were written by Australian composers
19% were written by living composers
0.45% were written by CALD Australian composers
0.05% were written by First Nations composers'

Metanoia works beyond the paradigm

For four years, Metanoia Theatre turned the Mechanics Institute in Brunswick, Melbourne into an artist-led contemporary arts space. Metanoia believes in cross-cultural/culturally diverse casting because it show an Australia of the future.

‘On the streets, we can see, in almost all places of Australia now, it’s completely culturally diverse [but] in all of the ways we reflect ourselves we don’t see that in an authentic way at all. It supports our ability to see ourselves as we truly are.'
