Megan Evans: Owning her Colonial Past

This interview with settler artist Megan Evans, whose work explores privilege, oppression and the impacts of colonisation on First Nations people, and brings attention to the way that the violence and oppression of whiteness is layered. She questions the meaning of collaboration with Indigenous artists and Community, since it implies coming together on “equal” terms and overlooks the power held by non-Indigenous actors and entities in this dynamic.

No diversity: Australian musical theatre award accused of overlooking non-white artists

Article on the criticism received by the Rob Guest Endowment due to the lack of diversity of its 2020 semifinalist list. The $50,000 award is Australia's most prestigious music theatre award and was criticised for announcing what appeared to be a completely white 30-person shortlist.

Some of the semifinalists issued a statement saying: “The 30 of us stand with artists and performers who are people of colour. We are uniting to listen, learn and actively be part of the solution.”
